BASKETBALL – BAHRAIN representatives Riffa have barged through to the semi-finals of the Under The Rim UTR Lanzarote Quest/Road to Neom 3x3 basketball tournament in Lanzarote, Spain.
The kingdom’s outfit booked their last-four berth following a narrow 14-13 victory over Valencia Basket of Spain in yesterday’s quarter-finals.
Their next opponent is Ub Huishan NE of Serbia, while the other semis match-up is between Hangzhou of China and PBL Gipuzcoa Basket of Spain.
Earlier in the competition, Riffa defeated home side Lanzarote 21-9 in their opening Pool B contest of the preliminary round. But they then lost to PBL Gipuzcoa Basket in their next fixture, 18-21. That set up their quarters meeting with Valencia Basket.
Riffa are competing in Lanzarote with a quartet featuring Caspar Augustijnen, Dennis Donkor, Jonas Foerts, and Thibaut Vervoort.
The competition also acts as a qualifying event for the Neom stop on the 2024 Fiba 3x3 World Tour, which is scheduled for November 7 to 9.
The Fiba 3x3 World Tour is the most prestigious event in 3x3 street basketball. It will be holding an event in the kingdom this November 1 and 2 for the second edition of the Manama Masters.
