TABLE TENNIS – BAHRAIN’S national table tennis team were given a warm reception upon their return from Amman, Jordan yesterday, where they competed in the West Asian Table Tennis Championship and came away with an impressive medal haul.
Bahrain Olympic Committee technical affairs department director Lounes Madene and a number of Bahrain Table Tennis Association (BTTA) board members received the squad upon their arrival at Bahrain International Airport.
BTTA president Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa was part of the returning delegation.
The Bahrainis came away with an impressive medal bag that included seven gold medals. They were won by Amruta Phadke in the senior women’s singles category; Kenda Mahmoud in the under-11 girls’ singles; Sayed Ahmed Faisal in the under-11 boys’ singles; Rashed Sanad, Mohammed Abbas, and Sayed Murtadha Hussain in the senior men’s teams; Sanad and Abbas in the senior men’s doubles; Ali Youssef, Sayed Nasser, Ali Hussain, and Hassan Ebrahim in the under-13 boys’ teams; and Mohammed Nader and Majed Alali in the under-17 men’s doubles.
