In the men’s doubles, Sanad and Abbas secured first place after defeating a Saudi Arabian pairing 3-2 in a tightly contested final, according to the Bahrain Table Tennis Association (BTTA). They had earlier punched their tickets to the gold medal contest after defeating a homegrown Jordanian duo in the semi-finals.

In the men’s teams’ competition, the trio of Sanad, Abbas, and Hussain won their gold medal after defeating their Jordanian counterparts 3-0 in the final. They had earlier marched forward after defeating the Saudi Arabian team 3-2 in the semis.
The under-13s secured their gold medal after defeating their counterparts from Qatar 3-2 in their final. They had previously qualified for the gold medal game after beating Jordan 3-2 in the last four.
For the under-17 team, they lost to Qatar 0-3 in their title-decider to come away with the silver medals. They had earlier posted a hard-earned 3-2 win over Iraq to advance.
BTTA president Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa was present at the tournament venue yesterday and was keen to follow up on the progress of the kingdom’s paddlers. She was accompanied by a number of BTTA board members.
