FOOTBALL – BAHRAIN’S under-23 football team were held to a 1-1 draw in a friendly match against the first team of Turkish club Bucaspor, held as part of their summer training camp in Europe.
Ahmed Dheyaa was on target for the nationals in the 41st minute of the game.
It was the fourth tune-up for the kingdom’s under-23s as they continued their camp programme in Turkey in preparation for upcoming competitions.
They had won all three of their previous outings, which included a 2-0 triumph against Antalya 1863 FK, a 3-0 victory over the reserve team of Antalyaspor, and a 3-1 win over the reserve side of Turkey’s Isparta 32 Spor Futbol Kulubu.
The nationals play one final friendly on Tuesday this week against the first team of Isparta, which will be on their last day at the camp.
The Bahrainis are in Turkey under the supervision of Moroccan head coach Hicham Dmiai. They are preparing for the GCC Under-23 Football Championship, which is scheduled to be held in Kuwait this October, as well as the qualifiers next year for the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2026.
They have 28 players in the camp. They are: Dheyaa, Talal Mubarak, Jamal Ali, Ali Al Dossari, Omar Khalaf, Abdulla Al Akar, Mohammed Khalifa, Abdulla Efrih, Abdulrahman Abboud, Abdulrahman Hameed, Faisal Saleh, Sayed Ali Majeed, Salem Al Dossari, Salman Younes, Saad Abdulla, Sayed Mahmood, Mubarak Mohammed, Ali Sahwan, Mohammed Al Basri, Issa Abdulla, Ahmed Enad Alshban, Abdulaziz Jamal, Jassim Hani, Ramzi Abdulla, Ali Abduljaleel, Ahmed Al Basri, Mustafa Dadallah, and Ali Tarada.
