Strengthening Bahrain-EU economic ties came up for discussion during a meeting between Minister, Counsellor and Head of Trade and Economic Affairs in the European Union’s Delegation Dr Thomas Juergensen and Bahrain Chamber chairman Sameer Nass.
Mr Nass underscored the “deep and ongoing bilateral co-operation” between Bahrain and the EU, emphasising the importance of joint efforts to further enhance relations for mutual benefit.
He also highlighted the chamber’s support for establishing a European Chamber of Commerce in Bahrain, aimed at facilitating European company participation in the market.
Bahrain Chamber first vice-chairman Khalid Najibi echoed the sentiment, citing Saudi Arabia’s experience as a model for fostering stronger private sector partnerships, attracting foreign investment, and boosting trade and knowledge exchange.
Dr Juergensen commended chamber’s role in promoting intra-regional trade and facilitating investments. He provided updates on the European Chamber’s establishment in Bahrain, outlining mechanisms for European company involvement.
He emphasised the chamber’s objective to strengthen economic, trade, and investment relations between Europe and Bahrain, potentially expanding to other GCC countries.
Bahrain Chamber board members Yousuf Salahuddin and Jameel Alghanah, along with administrative team members, also attended the meeting.
