A young Asian expatriate has been killed in a tragic accident when a car careered into a cold store in Karzakkan yesterday.
The victim, aged 22, was inside the Al Ayyah shop when the Ford Crown Victoria smashed through the store’s front spilling glass, cartons of juice and other produce across the footpath.
It is not clear whether he was a store assistant or a shopper.
The vehicle was left embedded in the frontage and passersby rushed to offer help.
Police, firemen and ambulance crews were also quickly at the scene and investigating the circumstances.
It is unclear whether the driver was injured.
The Interior Ministry added that relevant procedures were being ‘undertaken’.
The GDN has approached officials for more details regarding the driver and the cause of the incident.
Sources suggest the driver was suddenly taken ill at the wheel before the crash.
- Another Asian, 36, died when a car hit him while standing at the side of the road after his car broke down on Shaikh Khalifa Bin Salman Highway near Hamad Town, the Interior Ministry said.
