A 15-year-old Indian boy from the state of Uttar Pradesh has been recognised by the Guinness World Record for having the longest hair among teenagers.
Sidakdeep Singh Chahal’s hair is 4 feet 9.5 inches (146 cm) long.
In a YouTube video, Sidakdeep can be seen describing the process of washing, drying and brushing his hair for at least an hour, something which he says would have taken an entire day if his mother had not assisted him in the process.
Being from a Sikh family, Sidakdeep has always followed his traditions of never getting a haircut to honour his religious beliefs, which lay around the fact that hair is considered to be a “God’s Gift”, which indeed proved to be for Sidakdeep as he bagged the World Record title.
Most of the time, he ties his hair under a ‘turban’ in order to manage them.
Sidakdeep also recalled some of his past experiences when his relatives were in shock after he revealed his long hair to them and also times when his friends made fun of him during his childhood. However, he is pleased with the new honour and wants to grow his hair further.
The teenager will claim this title once he reaches the age of 18.
Previously, a 16-year-old teenage girl from Gujarat, Nilanshi Patel, had the longest hair in 2018, around 6 feet 6 inches. She, however, cut the locks in 2021 and donated it to a museum.
