A shocking discovery was made in a US town after 500 pounds (220 kilograms) of pasta was found dumped in a New Jersey forest.
The enormous spaghetti dump abstrusely appeared near a stream in Old Bridge, New Jersey, around April 28.
There are contradicting reports over whether the pasta was cooked or not.
The pasta turned out to be noodles without any sauce, gravy or cheese.
Two public works employees cleaned up the pasta in less than an hour. Police are investigating the incident.
Neighbours expressed that they may have solved the mystery of who dumped 500 pounds of pasta.
As per reports, the uncooked noodles were dry and they began to soften as a result of being exposed to moisture and rain.
Netizens joked about the massive pile of pasta.
One comment said, "It was pasta expiration date."
Another wrote, "This is the most New Jersey thing ever."
A security camera caught a man cleaning out the noodles from his mother's house after she'd passed, according to Nina Jochnowitz.
The man, who is known to be a military veteran, probably dumped the pasta because of its quantity.
Nina told NJ.com, "There was so much of it, he was probably a bit overwhelmed."
She also mentioned that she was in contact with the man's family; however, she disagreed when asked to reveal his identity.
"I don’t want him to relive the trauma," she remarked, referring to his veteran career and the demise of his mother.
