A Florida man who won a $1 million prize after being cut in a queue for a scratch-off lottery game, has credited the disorderly man in front of him for his win.
Stephen Munoz Espinoza recalled to Florida Lottery officials how he had stopped at Publix at the end of a long day to buy a ticket at the machine, when a man cut right in front of him.
When it came to his turn, Espinoza was in disbelief when he scratched off his “500X the Cash” lottery ticket.
"I can't believe I won a million dollars!,” he said.
The odds of winning a $1,000,000 prize are 1-in-267,739, according to the Florida Lottery officials and the $25 million jackpot is the only prize greater in value in the game which features prizes starting from $100.
Mr Espinoza chose to claim his winnings as a one-time lump sum payment of $820,000, which he plans to put aside for a new family home.
