Riyadh: Saudi has sentenced six members of an 11-member gang to 64 years in prison for blowing up an ATM machine in Riyadh and stealing SR1.4 million, local media reported.
The Criminal Court also ordered the amount of SR700,000 which they had seized to be confiscated.
The court also ordered the Saudi national and five expatriates to repay the rest of the stolen money and the confiscation of the vehicle used in the heist.
The six were arrested after blowing up the ATM in Al Jazirah District, south of Riyadh, and escaping with more than SR1.4 million in cash while five others fled Saudi after the robbery on February 15.
They managed to smuggle SR500,000 of stolen money out of the country, according to Riyadh police spokesman Col. Shaker bin Suleiman Al Tuwaijri, who said a Saudi team specialising in criminal investigation had identified 11 men involved in the bank raid.
Authorities are working to bring back the five men who fled the kingdom and recover the remaining money, Al Tuwaijri said.
