Jeddah: Saudi's Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has expressed its support to the declaration of the Coalition to Restore legitimacy in Yemen.
It stressed the need to restore conditions to their previous state following the announcement of a state of emergency by the Southern Transitional Council and the consequential development of affairs in the interim capital (Aden) and some Southern governorates in the Republic of Yemen.
The OIC also stressed eliminating any actions contrary to the Riyadh Agreement, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
OIC Secretary General Dr Yusuf bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen affirmed the importance of implementing the Riyadh Agreement, citing its wide support by the United Nations, adding that the agreement would unify Yemeni ranks, return the state's institutions and counter terrorism threats.
Dr Al-Othaimeen also stressed that any action that would escalate the situation and undermine efforts to resolve the Yemeni crisis peacefully must be avoided, calling on Yemeni parties to continue to implement the Riyadh Agreement.
The OIC secretary general reiterated the organisation's stance by the Yemeni people in such circumstances and backed up efforts to bring peace to Yemen, in addition to its support to the legitimacy in Yemen.
