SEVEN cup races are the highlights of today’s horse racing at Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club in Sakhir.
The richest race of the day is for the National Bank of Bahrain Cup for imported horses, carrying a cash prize of BD5,000 and to be run over 1,200 metres straight, starting at 4.50pm.
Of the eight horses in the fray, Roman River, owned by M and E Racing, trained by Alan Smith and to to be ridden by Gerald Mosse, is the favourite to win this race ahead of its nearest challengers Tulip Fever and Likethelook.
Vale Do So, owned by Victorious, trained by Hesham Al Haddad and to be ridden by Husain Makki, is tipped to win the National Bank of Bahrain Cup for imported horses, carrying a cash prize of BD3,000 and to be run over 1,800 metres, starting at 5.15pm.
Macaque and Albert Finney are the second and third favourites respectively.
The race for the National Bank of Bahrain Cup, carrying a cash prize of BD3,000 and to be run over 1,400 metres, starting at 4.25pm, has attracted the biggest field of 16 horses.
Safwa, owned by Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, trained by James Naylor and to be ridden by Brett Doyle, looks in best shape to win the National Bank of Bahrain Cup for locally bred horses, carrying a cash prize of BD3,000 and to be run over 1,400 metres, starting at 4pm.
Saraab and Nodisasgoodaswink are the second and third favourites respectively.
There are seven horses in the fray for the National Bank of Bahrain Cup, carrying a cash prize of BD2,000 and to be run over 1,200 metres straight, starting at 3.35pm.
Shawwash, owned by Al Nuwayef Racing, trained by Alan Smith and to be ridden by Lee Newman, is the best bet to win the National Bank of Bahrain Cup for locally bred horses, carrying a cash prize of BD2,000 and to be run over 2,000 metres, starting at 3.10pm.
Jedlaan and Maghsura are the second and third favourites respectively.
Al Mlolesh 1748, owned by Victorious, trained by Yousif Taher and to be ridden by Abdulla Faisal, is the favourite to win the National Bank of Bahrain Cup for Arabian horses carrying a cash prize of BD2,000 and to be run over 1,200 metres, starting at 2.45pm.
Al Krush 1751 and Al Musannah 1724 are expected to give the favourite a run for its money.
