Foreign students are launching social media campaigns to urge their governments to get them out of the Chinese city of Wuhan, where they are stuck under lock-down.
Several governments are faced with the challenge of how to evacuate their citizens of Wuhan.
India and Bangladesh stated that they are putting aircraft on standby, while Pakistan stated that it was prevented from flying out more than 500 Pakistani students and their families from Wuhan due to quarantine regulations.
Muhammad Rauf, a master's student from Pakistan and around 40 others are locked in their Wuhan dormitory for all but four hours a day, he said to Reuters.
“How long will the lock-down be?... What will we do? Just count down our days?” Rauf said, adding they had been calling for an evacuation plan from their government for ten days.
“We are following Chinese regulations according to which the whole place is under quarantine. As they open it, we will decide accordingly,” stated
Pakistani health minister Zafar Mirza.
He said he understood students' anxieties, but there is no current plan to evacuate them.
