Dubai: Mobile phone users in the United Arab Emirates need to visit the Etisalat service centres personally for fingerprint scan to complete the re-registration process of their SIM cards.
The SIM will be re-registered only after fingerprints matches with the fingerprints registered on Emirates ID.
“I got messages from Etisalat to update my information. Though my husband took my Emirates ID to update the information, they told him that the owner of the sim card needs to come in person,” Emirates 24/7 quoted Meena S, a resident, as saying.
“They scanned my Emirates ID and even took my thumb impression. Since it matched with the Emirates ID data, the re-registration was done immediately,” she added.
Telecom users in the United Arab Emirates have been asked to update their information with telecom companies following renewal of their residence visa and Emirates ID.
It is mandatory in the United Arab Emirates to submit copies of renewed Emirates ID card to your bank and telecom companies or else they may freeze your bank accounts and disconnect your phone line.
