The first Bahraini to ever participate in the 2020 Dakar Rally, Salman Mohammed, will be returning to the kingdom following a fracture in his back after severe falls during the race yesterday in Saudi Arabia.
Despite the falls, Salman tried his best to continue the race. However, he was strictly advised against continuing with the race. He has received the necessary medical care in KSA and will head back to Bahrain soon.
‘Never give up’ was Salman's principle through the last six months while training for Dakar 2020. The whole kingdom is proud of this champion. He has upheld the great tradition and values of Bahrain throughout Dakar 2020.
Salman has played a pivotal role in bringing the Bahraini flag to an internationally renowned race like Dakar 2020.
"It is the support and love of all Bahrainis that has motivated me all through the race," said Salman, who will be under observation until full recovery.
Team Wheels Of Arabia has thanked the various groups and institutions like Ministry of Youth and Sports, Tamkeen, KFH, Diyar Al Muharraq, Spartan Fitness, CIDIMU group, SaluberMD and TDCS technology for their support.
