GYMFINITIY, the Gymnastic Academy at British School of Bahrain (BSB) notched 22 medals, 11 gold, three silver and eight bronze, at the Manama Challenge, hosted by Middle East Gymnastic Association (MEGA) at Chaoss gym in Manama.
The team consisted of 14 gymnasts aged seven to 14 and they competed on floor, beam and vault against gymnasts from Oman and Dubai.
Charlotte Rodney was second on the floor and first on the beam and vault which earned her overall first place in the Level 2 11+ girl’s section.
“I am very proud of my achievement. We did extremely well considering it was our first event. I was very nervous but I managed to overcome my fear and it all payed off well,” said Charlotte.
Carolina de Ambrosis Vigna and Laya Barghuthi were first on the vault in Level 3 11+ and 8-9 girls section respectively.
“It was a little scary because the Chaoss gym was way bigger and really different from our gym. But in the end I did really well,” said Laya.
Elle Harris and Frederikke La Cour were the run-away winners in the Level 2 eight and under girls section.
Frederikke was third on the floor and second on the vault and her combined score helped her finish second overall while Elle was first in all elements which earned her the overall first place in her category.
