THE visiting MCC team captain Clinton Perron, CBA president Clinton Perren and Alba CFO Ali Baqali yesterday inaugurated the Alba Club Cricket Academy in presence of Alba Club director Hasan Noor, CBA board members, MCC team members and hundreds of children and their parents.
The MCC players also held a coaching clinic for more than 100 children from Bahrain schools. The MCC team is in Bahrain as part of Awali Cricket Club’s 80th anniversary celebrations.
The winners of the recently concluded Under-16 Inter-School Cricket Tournament were also presented with their awards.
The Indian School were the winners for the fourth consecutive year while the Bahrain Youth team were the runners-up and New Millennium School finished third.
Individual awards were given to P.Rakshit (Indian School, man-of-the-tournament, best batsman, man-of-the-final and for claiming a hat-trick), Mohammed Umar (Ibn Al Haytum, best bowler), Bahrain Youth Ahmed Saqlain (best batsman), best fielder Manish Tiwari (New Indian School), best wicketkeeper Jagan Vijay Kumar (NMS), fastest 50 of 21 balls by Amartya Sarkar (St Christopher School), century maker Subhan Mohd (Bahraini Government School), promising youngster Rishabh Ramesh (British School), five-wicket haul Neil Seth (Indian School), hat-trick hero Arslan Baig (NMS), Akshit Jyotish (Indian School), youngest player 10-year-old Shashank Shekhar Shukla (NNMS) and Annant Krshna (Indian School).
