BAHRAIN scored an emphatic 74-run victory over Saudi Arabia yesterday in the ACC Under-16 Western Region Cricket Tournament in Muscat.
Batting first, Bahrain reached 165 all out in 34.1 overs with opener Aaryan Koul top scoring with 51 (69 balls, 5 fours) while Ansh Kattayan contributed 27.
In reply, Saudi Arabia were bowled out for 91 in 28.5 overs.
Man-of-the-match Haniel Asir Robert was Bahrain’s hero claiming five wickets for 15 runs while Shashank Shekhar bagged two wickets for 14 runs.
Bahrain next play Iran tomorrow.
In another Group ‘A’ match, UAE beat Iran by 299 runs.
Batting first, the UAE reached a mammoth 349 for six in their 35 overs with Ali Nasser contributing an unbeaten 197 while O Tauqir (36) and A Khan (55) the other main contributors.
R Dadrahman claimed three wickets for Iran.
In reply Iran were bowled out for 50 in 32.3 overs with A Kumar claiming six wickets for seven runs.
Group ‘B’ consists of hosts Oman, Qatar, Maldives and Kuwait. The UAE top the table with four points while Saudi Arabia and Bahrain are on two points each and Iran at the bottom with two defeats.
