Dubai: A lion that was found roaming the neighbourhood of Al Barsha, Dubai was captured on Thursday, according to reports by daily newspaper Emarat Al Youm.
It was reported that the lion, captured by expert animal handlers from Dubai Municipality, had escaped from its owner's home.
This is the latest in a strings of incidents where exotic animals have been reportedly sighted in and around Dubai.
Keeping endangered animals as pets is illegal under UAE federal law, and Dubai Customs has been trying hard for the past several years to stop the import of wild animals from Africa to Dubai, to be kept as exotic pets.
There have also been instances where domesticated big cats have been sighted with owners in their cars in Dubai's posh Jumeirah area.
