Malkiya and Budaiya were officially relegated to the second division football league next season after losing their matches in the 17th week of Nasser bin Hamad Football Premier League last night.
Malkiya lost to Al Hala 2-0 at Muharraq Club Stadium, while Budaiya bowed to East Riffa 5-0 at Bahrain National Stadium.
East Riffa moved to the secure area with 22 points, while Budaiya remained with 15 points.
Sami Al Hussaini scored two goals while Gozran, Mohammed Abdulla and Hazza Ali had one each to seal East Riffa’s win.
Heroics
Al Hala’s goals were scored in the second half by Abdulla Janahi in the 50th minute and Hussain Haji in the 63rd minute.
The victors moved up to eighth position with 18 points, while Malkiya remained in 10th position with 13 points.
In other match, Al Shabab defeated Al Hidd 3-2 to earn 19 points, while Al Hidd remained with 25 points.
The first half ended 1-1, with Al Shabab scoring first in the 11th minute through Hussain Al Qassab, but Al Hidd equalised in the 22nd minute through Sa’ad Al Amer.
Al Shabab regained the lead in the 59th minute with a goal from Prince who again scored in the 78th minute. Al Hidd reduced the margin in the 87th minute through Sa’ad Al Amer but Al Shabab were not to be denied of the victory.
