Kuwait City: Barcelona FC player Denis Suarez faced widespread criticism for entering a Kuwaiti mosque in unsuitable clothes, according to Al Rai newspaper.
The player, who joined Arsenal on loan, posted a picture online, dressed in shorts inside Kuwait Grand Mosque.
His wife, who arrived on a visit to Kuwait, wore the traditional abaya and covered her hair with a Hijab.
TV sport programme "Derby" attacked the player and wondered how the authorities allowed him to enter Kuwait Grand Mosque in indecent clothes, which represents an affront to the country’s traditions.
Grand Mosque director Rumi Al Rumi said official authorities arrange for Muslim and non-Muslim guests top visit the Grand Mosque.
The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs issued a fatwa in 1994 allowing non-Muslims to visit mosques.
