MANAMA: The use of high-tech aluminium glazing systems in commercial, public and residential buildings can prevent a lot of material and human life losses in the event of disasters, an expert has said.
According to Technal Middle East technical manager Sami Zgheib accidents like the recent fire in London, which resulted in many casualties, could have been prevented with the use of the latest thermal insulation used by the company in exterior claddings, tested in international laboratories and certified and approved.
Mr Zgheib said this during an exclusive conference at the Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay organised by the international architectural aluminium systems provider whose Middle East headquarters is based in Bahrain.
He said the event aimed at reaching out to the company’s customers, and partners like architects, contractors, consultants and design and construction professionals to enhance their awareness on safety and security in buildings.
“It helped in gathering international expertise and latest products and technologies under one roof in the presence of all building and construction parties concerned in Bahrain, including official bodies and manufacturers in the field of safety and security in buildings,” he added.
Technal Middle East general manager Sam Robinson opened the conference speaking about the company’s efforts to develop the most advanced products and architectural aluminium solutions in the construction sector, which have been tested under various factors such as earthquakes, fires and storms.
Eva Juszczyk from Benoy Global also spoke during the event focusing on high-rise buildings, their designs and technical aspects, and the architectural design aspects of the upcoming Bahrain Marina project.
Hesham Kameshki, marketing and business development manager for Technal Middle East said the conference focused on safety and exterior claddings of buildings, especially with regard to fire protection.
“The conference was part of a series of events that will be organised by Technal Middle East, and we are very proud that the first edition was held in Bahrain,” he said.
“The idea was to provide an insight into the latest information, products, international expertise and modern techniques used in the field of safety and fire protection in buildings, and to share these expertise, applications and products for use in Bahrain, and converting them into legal regulations related to the safety in buildings.”
Organised in co-operation with UK-based SideRise Group, the event was attended by a large number of private sector executives as well government officials and representatives of civil defence.
Representatives of the Royal Institute of British Architects and the American Institute of Architects also took part as key event supporters.
