The Bahrain Basketball Association (BBA) announced last night the signing of renowned Serbian coach Vanja Gusa to take charge of the kingdom’s junior national team.
The move was completed following the directives of BBA President Shaikh Isa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, who has stressed the importance of contracting an internationally respected tactician to help in the development of Bahrain’s top young players.
Gusa, currently 52, has coached youth teams in his home country and has also had experience with clubs in Kuwait.
Two of his major achievements have been leading the Serbian national team youngsters to a silver medal in the 2013 FIBA Europe Under-16 Championship in Ukraine, and to the bronze medal in the 2014 FIBA Under-17 World Championship in the UAE.
