BAHRAIN take on China tonight in an international friendly, starting at 7pm, at the National Stadium in Riffa. Entrance is free for spectators.
Both teams are using the game as part of their preparations for upcoming competitions, including the AFC Asian Cup 2019 to be held in January in the UAE.
The Chinese arrived in Bahrain on Saturday from Doha, where they lost 0-1 to the hosts in another friendly clash.
The Chinese practiced last night at the National Stadium under their World Cup-winning head coach Marcello Lippi, the former manager of Series A giants Juventus and Inter Milan as well as former coach of the Italian national team.
Bahrain’s national team have also been training under their Czech coach Miroslav Soukup. They are coming off a 1-1 draw in a tune-up game against the Philippines last Thursday.
Bahrain will be taking part in the AFC Asian Cup 2019 for the sixth time. Their best finish was in 2004 when they claimed fourth place out of 16 teams.
In the previous edition in 2015 held in Australia, the Bahrainis failed to make it past the group stage after losing two of their three games.
Inaugural
Bahrain will be featuring in the inaugural match on January 5 against the UAE in the 43,000-capacity Zayed Sports City Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
