BAHRAIN is all set to take part in today’s official Opening Ceremony of the 18th Asian Games in Jakarta.
The grand inauguration is scheduled to take place at 3pm, Bahrain time, and it will be held at 76,000-capacity Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium.
The Bahrain delegation has been tight-lipped about who will have the honour of carrying the Bahrain flag at the parade of nations.
Supreme Council for Youth and Sports assistant general secretary and Bahrain Olympic Committee general secretary Abdulrahman Askar arrived yesterday at the Indonesian capital to attend today’s events.
He was received by the Bahrain delegation’s Chef de Mission Bader Nasser. Askar was accompanied by BOC members Shaikh Mohammed bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, Rashid Al Zayani and Omar Al Malki.
Bahrain delegation, headed by Deputy Head of Mission Sayed Ali Yaseen, yesterday took part in a festival in the city of Palembang, the co-hosts.
Meanwhile, Bahrain’s shooting team began their final preparations leading up to the start of their competition tomorrow.
The team includes seven shooters - Safa Mohamed Al Doseri, Sara Rashed Al Doseri, Hanan Khalid Rahma, Maryam Al Hassani, Husain Abduljabbar Ali, Mahmood Ali Haji and Hasan Majed Mohamed. The team is coached by Thanin Thaislilp, Iordan Mitov and Valeriy Timokhin.
