BAHRAIN’S Marawan Medany missed out on qualification yesterday for the final round of the men’s discus throw (1.750kg) at the IAAF World U20 Championships, taking place in Tampere, Finland.
Needing a performance of 60 metres or placing amongst the top 12 to advance, Medany managed a best throw of just 54.83m, which earned him a classification of 23rd amongst 34 participants overall.
Yauheni Bahutski of Belarus finished as the top qualifier with a best throw of 61.72m. Yuhan Wang of China followed with a mark of 60.38m, while Mohamed Ibrahim Moaaz of Qatar finished in third place with a top throw of 59.46m.

Bahrain’s third competitor in Tampere was Musa Isah, who was able to advance to the semi-finals of the men’s 400m but no further.
