Muscat: The official authorities warned the public against dealing with impersonated personal bank accounts through WhatsApp application.
The Information Technology Authority (ITA) called upon users not to deal with such messages or send any verification code or any money if requested
The regulatory authority said that it had received a number of reports about the impersonation of personal bank accounts through WhatsApp.
An OmanCERT team reached out to users who were affected by the scam to provide the necessary technical support and help them overcome the problem.
