Muscat: An Indian woman from the state of Telangana died on a Saudi Arabian Airlines flight as she was heading from the city of the Medina to Hyderabad.
The plane made an emergency landing at Muscat International Airport to provide medical treatment to the passenger, who passed away despite paramedics’ efforts.
Shareefa Begum, 65, suffered a heart attack and passed away as she was returning to Hyderabad after performing Umrah in Saudi Arabia.
She was already dead when the plane landed at the airport, an Indian Embassy official in Muscat told Times of Oman.
She was travelling with her two grandchildren on-board Saudi Arabian Airlines flight SV744.
The Embassy is following up procedures with the concerned authorities in Muscat to ensure the repatriation of the woman.
