Sayed Hashim Isa scored twice to lead Malkiya to a 4-1 win over Al Suwaiq of Oman while Manama and Al Jaish of Syria played a goalless draw in their first round matches of the AFC Cup Competition last night.
Malkiya are on top of Group ‘A’ with three points after the other group match between Air Force of Iraq and Al Jazira of Jordan ended in a 2-2 draw in Doha.
The match between Malkiya and Al Suwaiq, held at the Khalifa Sports City Stadium, saw the home team dominate from the start.
The first half ended 2-1 for Malkiya, who scored first in the 21st minute through Sayed Hashim Adnan. They made it 2-0 in the 33rd minute with a goal scored by Sayed Hashim Isa.
Just moments before half-time, Al Suwaiq reduced the margin to 2-1 with a goal by Abdulaziz Hameed.
Malkiya continued their pressure on their opponents, and succeeded to score their third goal in the 71st minute through Hashim Isa.
Ten minutes later Malkiya made it 4-1 with a goal by Ali Al Sayed Isa.
In the other match, held at Bahrain National Stadium, both Manama and Al Jaish failed to show class as they drew 0-0 in a drab affair, as both teams shared the points in their Group ‘B’.
In the same group, Al Ahad of Lebanon and Al Zawra of Iraq drew 1-1.
