Jeddah: A Saudi Arabian Airlines plane had to return to King Abdulaziz International Airport after its tail hit the runway during take off.
Flight SV21, which was heading to John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York landed safely in Jeddah.
The passengers were evacuated and transferred to another plane for New York.
The Saudi national carrier said that the body of the plane had not been damaged, adding that the sensors had been changed following the incident.
“The Boeing 777 flew over the sea and dumped fuel before landing safely as a preventive measure” it said in a statement.
