Farah has officially started work as a receptionist at Smart Dubai, which is located in Dubai Design District, Al Ittihad newspaper reported.
Farah is no regular woman employee working as a receptionist – she is a humanoid robot.
Smart Dubai is hosting “Farah” in partnership with Nearby Technologies, which is specialised in supplying companies with IT solutions.
The robot made its debut on Saturday at Smart Dubai in a three-month-long experiment, which is considered the first of its kind in the Middle East.
Dressed in traditional black abaya, 1.5-metre-tall “Farah” interacts with customers and leads them either to the waiting hall or to the meeting room.
The smiling Farah, which has human-like features, is programmed and fitted with a hi-tech touch screen which enables customers to register automatically.
