A second-half goal by substitute Ali Jamal led Muharraq to a 1-0 win over East Riffa, while Al Hidd beat second division league side Galali 4-0 in the second leg of the King Cup football competition played last night at Bahrain National Stadium in Isa Town.
Muharraq and East Riffa were tied 1-1 in the first-leg match.
Jamal, who came in the second half, scored in the 78th minute to seal Muharraq’s win and put them into the quarter-final where they will meet Al Hidd, who defeated Galali 4-0 in the second match.
Al Hidd won the first-leg match 3-0. In their second-leg match, Al Hidd’s Ahmed Al Khattal scored a hat-trick in the 38th, 86th and 92nd minutes and Isa Ghalib also added one in the 90th minute to complete the win.
Two matches are scheduled for today’s last 16 round, with Isa Town taking on Riffa at 5.30pm, and Malkiya facing Busaiteen at 7.45pm. Both matches will be played at Khalifa Sports City Stadium in Isa Town.
