BAHRAIN head coach Miroslav Soukup yesterday named a 24-player squad that will be preparing for their AFC Asian Cup qualifier against Singapore next month.
The nationals are scheduled to be hosted by their East Asian counterparts on November 14 in their fifth Group ‘E’ qualifying match.
Prior to that game, Bahrain will be playing a friendly against Hong Kong on November 9.
The players named to the squad include Waleed Al Hayam, Abdulla Abdo, Mohammed Al Bannai, Abdulwahab Ali, Abdulla Yousif, Jamal Rashid and Isa Moosa from Muharraq; Sayed Shubar Alawi, Kumail Al Atham, Ali Madan, Ahmed Abdulla and Ibrahim Habib from Al Najma; Sayed Ahmed Jaffar and Sayed Mujtaba Al Muhaftha from Al Shabab; Ashraf Waheed, Ali Haram and Hisham Mansoor from Manama; Sayed Mohsin Ali and Mahdi Abduljabbar from Ettihad; Hamad Shamsan, Kumail Alaswad and Sayed Dhiya Saeed from Riffa; Sayed Redha Isa from Malkiya and Abo Baker Adam from Al Wehda in Saudi Arabia.
Bahrain are currently in first place in Group ‘E’ of qualifying. They have seven points from two wins, one draw and one loss.
Tied
The Bahrainis are tied with Turkmenistan, while Chinese Taipei are third with six points and Singapore are last with two points.
Following Bahrain’s qualifier with Singapore, they play their final game against Turkmenistan on March 27 at home.
There are six groups in all in this third qualifying stage, with the top two teams from each earning a berth in the AFC Asian Cup 2019.
