Defending champions Manama will take on Al Ahli at 4.30pm today at Bahrain National Stadium in Isa Town in the round of 16 first leg match of King Cup football tournament.
In the other match of the day, Al Shabab will face Al Najma at 6.45pm.
The first leg matches will be held in four days with two matches on each day. Tomorrow, Budaiya will take on Al Hala, and Bahrain will clash with Ettihad. On Sunday, Al Hidd will face Galali while Muharraq lock horns with East Riffa. On Monday, Riffa will take on Isa Town and Malkiya will face Busaiteen.
Defending champions Manama, under the supervision of Mohammed Al Shamlan, will start their title campaign by facing neighbours Al Ahli who are being coached by Tunisian Abdulqader Bahlool.
The second match between Al Najma and Al Shabab is expected to be more exciting, with both teams excelling in the league competition. Al Najma are currently in the second place of the league competition, while Al Shabab are third with only one point behind Al Najma.
According to Bahrain Football Association’s changes in this year’s tournament rules, all matches will be played twice (home and away) until the semi-final round. If the matches are drawn in both games, the winners will be decided through a penalty shootout as no extra time will be played.
