Dubai: The Arabian Business magazine website has been banned and blocked in the United Arab Emirates for 30 days for publishing incorrect information related to real estate projects in the Emirate of Dubai, reported Emarat Al Youm.
“The ban is based on federal laws and legislations regulating media activities in the UAE”, said the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA).
The Arabian Business had published this month a news claiming that a number of real estate projects had gone bankrupt in the emirate of Dubai.
The Dubai Government Media Office announced then that the magazine had deleted the alleged news from its website and electronic platforms, adding that the publication relied on inaccurate sources.
The Dubai Land and Properties Department had also denied the liquidation of any real estate project in the emirate, affirming that the “construction sector works in line with the normal rules of offer and demand”.
It said in a statement that work on stalled real estate projects due to the global financial meltdown had resumed in 2012, adding that the Dubai laws and legislations protect the rights investors and developers without any discrimination.
The department reported 20,000 real estate transactions valued at up to AED77 billion during the first quarter of 2017.
