BAHRAIN-based Brave Combat Federation (BCF) yesterday announced that it would host mixed martial arts events in Mexico and Brazil.
BCF was established in Bahrain a year ago under the leadership of Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa. The Mexican event will be held on July 29 in Plaza de Toros Caliente, Tijuana, while Curitiba will host the Brazil showpiece on August 12.
The events will feature athletes from Brazil, Mexico, the US, Guyana, Costa Rica, Philippines, UK, Lebanon and Germany.
The popularity of the sport has also translated into multiple victories for Bahrain and put the Kingdom on the global map.
“The organisation will definitely be focusing on developing talent from the Middle East since Bahrain will be a key destination to host the largest Combat Week in Asia in November 2017,” said BCF president Mohammed Shahid.
“The recent accolades achieved by Bahraini athletes in global events include winning gold at IMMAF Asian Open Championship in Singapore last month. This was achieved due to Shaikh Khalid’s vision, support and encouragement,” said Shahid.
The growth of the sports industry in Bahrain will be pivotal in opening new avenues for investments and economic opportunities in the region, he added.
BCF is one of the fastest growing mixed martial arts organisation based in the Middle East. Within a year of incubation, the organisation held events in Brazil, India, Kazakhstan, the UAE and Bahrain.
The events were telecast across 61 nations and 833 million households.
The BCF has also established a film production unit with the launch of the television movie ‘SMILE’.
Bahrain will be the venue for the 2017 IMMAF World Championships of Amateur MMA which will be a part of the annual Brave Combat Week to be held from November 12 to 19.
