Distribution of marketing brochures, promotional and advertisement bills in residential and public areas has been banned.
Violators will face fines amounting to a total of SR500 plus other penalties specified for violation of municipal rules.
Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs Abdullatief Al Asheikh has issued a directive to all mayoralties and municipalities across the kingdom.
The Saudi Press Agency reported that this directive is part of containing environmental pollution and maintaining public hygiene.
Also, sticking bills in public places with the purpose of promoting any products or services is also banned.
The penalties will be linked to Saudi IDs or residence permits (iqamas) of violators on the basis of phone numbers given in promotional materials.
