Malkiya were officially crowned as the Bahrain VIVA Football First Division League champions on the last day of the season yesterday.
Bahrain Football Association President Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa presented the league title to Malkiya team members along with gold medals.
Meanwhile, Malkiya lost to Riffa 2-0 in their last match of the league played at Khalifa Sports City Stadium in Isa Town.
The victory gave Riffa the second place in the standing with 31 points, while Malkiya remained on top with 33 points.
Riffa’s first goal was scored by Mohammed Sa’ad Al Rumaihi in the 50th minute, before Brazilian Danilo netted the second.
In the other match of the day, at Al Ahli Club Stadium, East Riffa shocked Muharraq 4-1. The defeat sent Muharraq down to fifth place with 29 points while East Riffa remain in sixth position with 22 points.
East Riffa’s Sami Al Hussaini scored a hat-trick in the 17th, 89th and 93rd minutes while his teammate Faisal Bu Dahoom scored in the 26th minute. Muharraq’s lone goal was scored by Doris Salamo in the 28th minute.
