Ajman, UAE: The Ajman police have arrested a gang of five European men involved in stealing credit card details of bank customers with the help of a chip inserted in the ATM machine.
The company in charge of Ajman bank’s security was informed about two suspicious looking men loitering outside the bank, Colonel Abdullah al Matrooshi, director of the Criminal Investigation Department said.
They immediately rushed to the location and found a chip inserted in the ATM machine and a camera installed on the device
The gang achieved their goal by installing a chip inside the ATM machine. When a bank customer inserted their card in the ATM machine slot, the chip would copy all its details including the pin number. Once the gang copied all the details they used the data to steal the money via withdrawal.
According to media reports, the suspects entered the country on a visit visa.
The arrested suspected confessed and also provided details of the fifth accomplice, who was a resident of Ajman.
