The Oman Youth Ship will today start a six-month trip following directives from Sultan Qaboos ibn Said.
The 'Friendship and Peace' voyage will visit a number of European Union member states and take part in sailing vessel races for long ships.
Minister in charge of Defence Affairs Badr bin Said bin Hareb Al Bousaidi will patronize a ceremony at the Said bin Sultan Airbase to bid the ship farewell.
The ship will also take part in a number of festivals and celebrations in the EU member states.
The trip is carrying a message of friendship and fraternity to build bridges between Muscat and other countries and promote Omani culture to the world.
