Al Malkiya defeated East Riffa 3-0 to stay on top of the Bahrain first division football league table yesterday at the Khalifa Sports City Stadium in Isa Town, writes MAZIN RIZK.
Ahmed Yousif opened the scoring for Al Malkiya in the 7th minute before substitute Sayed Hesham Essa doubled their lead in the 70th minute.
Three minutes later, Redha Sayed Essa scored the team’s third goal.
Al Malkiya’s goalkeeper Abdulkarim Fardan played a big part in the win as he was forced to put in top-notch saves to keep his team in the lead.
Al Malkiya controlled most aspects of the game and posed much more of a threat on their opponents.
East Riffa, however, seemed tactically lost within the game with most of their efforts going to waste through Sami Al Husseiny and Faisal Budham,
The win sees Malkiya in first place with 28 points, while East Riffa sit in ninth place with 10 points.
Al Muharraq will today face Al Bahrain at the National Stadium, while Al Hidd will go up against Al Najma at the Khalifa Sports City Stadium. Both games will kick off at 6.30pm
