A LATE goal by Brazilian Everton steered Manama to a 1-0 victory over Bahrain Club while leaders Malkiya were held to a goalless draw by Al Hala in the 13th week of the Bahrain Viva Football First Division League last night at Khalifa Sports Stadium in Isa Town.
King Cup champions Manama and Bahrain Club depended on defensive tactics and, as such, there were very few scoring opportunities throughout the goalless first-half.
The second-half was slightly better with Manama creating a number of chances.
Manama were denied a penalty kick by referee Mohammed Bu Nafour when Christian handled the ball in the box while making a clearance.
All the Manama players and staff on the bench were upset and made their displeasure evident. As a result, Bahrain Club’s Serbian coach Dragan was sent to the stands by the referee.
Manama finally broke the deadlock with five minutes to go when Mahmoud Abdulrahman’s free kick found Brazilian Everton in the right place at the right time and he headed in the match-winner.
