Manama made history in football after winning their first ever King’s Cup title by defeating favourites and defending champions Muharraq 2-1 in their final match held last night at the Bahrain National Stadium in Isa Town.
The stadium saw almost a full crowd from both supporters, where they cheered until the last moments of the match.
All three goals came in the second half after a goalless first half.
Manama scored twice in just five minutes with Manama defender Ali Haram heading into the net after a fine corner kick in the 64th minute.
Manama made it 2-0 in the 68th minute when referee Ammar Mahfooth awarded a penalty kick to Brazilian striker Everton who scored brilliantly leaving the Muharraq team members and fans in shock.
Muharraq reduced the margin to 2-1 in the 78th minute, when Mahfooth called for the second penalty in the game. Muharraq striker Ismael Abdullatif scored from the penalty spot.
