Doha: A man, in his twenties, was sentenced to three years in jail for misusing messaging application to intimidate a woman and defaming her.
The Public Prosecution had charged the man with threatening to share the woman’s private pictures on WhatsApp after stealing her mobile phone, reported Al Sharq.
The criminal court convicted the blackmailer and ordered his deportation on serving his three-year jail term.
The woman, who is a teacher, lost her cell phone a few months ago but failed to inform the police and her telecommunications company.
The convict kept harassing the woman and threatening to send her pictures to her family unless she agreed to have an affair with him.
