Muscat: Shaikha Ashoor Al–Hamisiya has made history by becoming the first Omani woman to hold the position of police station chief.
The Royal Police of Oman appointed Lieutenant–Colonel Al–Hamisiya in charge of Al–Watiya police station, reported Shabiba.
She first enrolled in the Royal Police of Oman in 1990 and joined, on her graduation, the department of public security and investigation
She later joined a course for officers and worked on her graduation as head of the department of juveniles and administrative affairs.
According to her, 2011 was a turning point in her life as she was chosen to lead a police parade in the presence of Sultan Qaboos bin Said of Oman.
