The richest man in China is now looking for an heir to his 634 billion yuan empire — as his son may not be the one to inherit it.
It should have been an easy decision for Wang Jianlin, founder and chairman of Dalian Wanda Group, who has a son that he would eventually hand over the reins to.
However the billionaire's son has rejected the idea becoming his successor, reported Malaysian newspaper Malaysian Digest.
Wang Sicong, 28, said that he doesn't want to take over the hotels, shopping centres, sports clubs, theme parks and large chain of cinemas because he does not want a life like his father's.
“I have asked my son about the succession plan, and he said he does not want to live a life like mine.
“Perhaps young people have their own quests and priorities. Probably it will be better to hand over to professional managers and have us sit on the board and see them run the company,” the 62-year-old mogul told an entrepreneurs summit over the weekend, according to reports in the South China Morning Post.
