The Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Ministry has asserted the illegality of practising “Ruqya” as a job, calling to criminalise such practices with deterrent measures against those who misuse it for material gains.
Responding to a question by Shura Council member Jawad Abdulla Hussain, the ministry affirmed that “Ruqya”, which consists of reading verses from the Holy Quran and religious supplications as a treatment for some diseases, must not be taken up as a job to earn money .
