Arab Financial Services (AFS), a leading digital payments provider in Middle East and Africa, announced the launch of a new data centre in Egypt, marking a significant step forward for its operations in the country.
The data centre aims to fuel AFS’s growth in Egypt through two key strategies: accelerated expansion and enhanced reach. The secure and reliable facility will allow AFS to rapidly scale its business within the country and extend its trusted payment processing services to a wider range of Egyptian businesses, banks, and financial institutions, building on its established presence since 2022.
“This investment underscores our commitment to the dynamic Egyptian market,” said AFS chief executive Samer Soliman. “Our new Cairo data centre provides a robust foundation for our existing merchant acquiring business and serves as a platform for comprehensive issuer processing services. We aim to be a key partner in the banking sector’s digital transformation by delivering agile, secure, and seamless payment solutions.”
AFS currently serves over 60 banks in more than 20 countries across the region, offering advanced payment solutions. The new data centre positions the company to become a dominant player in the Egyptian market.
“We are committed to investing in Egypt’s technology infrastructure and talent pool,” said AFS Egypt managing director Tawfik Mahmoud. “Building on the capabilities of the new data centre, AFS prioritises human capital investment to accelerate growth across business lines. Our workforce is estimated to reach nearly 300 Egyptian payments professionals by year-end, solidifying our reputation for delivering the best experiences and expertise for customers.”
The data centre launch is complemented by a primary disaster recovery (DR) site featuring the latest payment applications, further solidifying AFS’s position as the preferred partner for Egyptian businesses. The company is regulated by the Central Bank of Bahrain and the Central Bank of Egypt and is owned by 37 banks and financial institutions.
