Iran’s retaliatory attack on Israel has prompted different reactions on social media. While some mocked what they called an agreed Iranian play to save face, others praised the strike and its outcomes, stressing that it was the first direct offensive targeting the depth of Israel and laying bare Israel’s need for foreign protection.
Critics argued that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was the biggest winner from the attack with the return of unconditional and full military, economic and diplomatic support to Israel from the West led by the US and its allies.
They added that the strike has also eased pressure on Netanyahu from within Israel which has reached a dangerous stage of discord.
It has also alleviated global pressure on Israel and its accomplices in the war crimes in Gaza.
Critics of the attack posted sarcastic pictures and comments mocking the Iranian offensive. Sweden-based Union of Arab Journalists chairman and Euro Times editor-in-chief Dr Ali Al Jaberi wrote on his official account on X platform ‘one drone killed Soleimani, Al Muhandis, and a number of their aides. One drone killed Mohammed Reza Zahedi and five Iranian military advisers. Iran launched 185 drones, 36 cruise missiles and 110 surface-to-surface missiles without killing a single Israeli. The tragedy is that supporters of the Iranian axis consider that a great victory.’
Islamic World, Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ISESCO) former director general Abdulaziz Al Tuwaijri tweeted on X that the theatrical Iranian strike has provided internal support to Netanyahu and justified more US arms supplies for Israel.
