AGREEMENT – DHL Global Forwarding has been announced as the official logistics partner of the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) as part of an agreement signed yesterday.
The agreement was signed at a ceremony in the Paddock at BIC, ahead of this weekend’s Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix.
As part of the new partnership, DHL will also support new development at the Bahrain International Karting Circuit, with the introduction of a dedicated new garage and retail building, that will have DHL as its title partner, thus supporting the next generation of driving talent in Bahrain.
The signing ceremony was attended by BIC chief executive Shaikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa and Sue Donoghue, board member of the DHL Global Forwarding Middle East and Africa and Paul Fowler, vice president Global Motorsport, DHL, as well as senior management from both organisations.
The agreement was signed on the same day that Formula and DHL announced that they had agreed a multi-year extension that will see DHL maintain their position as the longest-standing Global Partner of F1.
The new partnership will mean that DHL Global Forwarding will manage BIC’s logistics for international, regional, and local events, with BIC benefiting from DHL’s unrivaled global network.
DHL will also benefit from the global platform that BIC offers to its partners, including a comprehensive range of on and off-track services at the venue.
“We are extremely proud to be the new official logistics partner of the Bahrain International Circuit. At DHL, we possess extensive expertise in logistics for motorsport and racing events worldwide, while providing solutions that help reduce CO2e emissions related to these transports,” said Ms Donoghue.
For his part Mr Fowler said they are proud to partner with the BIC in the Middle East.
“Bahrain hosted its first F1 event in 2004 and is now celebrating its 20th year, coinciding with DHL’s 20th year as F1‘s Official Logistics Partner,” he added.
“It is fitting that we strengthen this partnership and make it official on our anniversaries.”
Shaikh Salman said they are excited to have the world’s leading logistics company as their official partner.
“Our events throughout the year often have complex logistics requirements and DHL have already shown their ability for the work they have done for us ahead of this year’s Bahrain Grand Prix,” said Shaikh Salman.
